Because American Mardi Gras originated in Mobile back when it was the capital of Louisiana, the residents of Mobile take Carnival celebrations very seriously. Mobile’s nightly Mardi Gras parades start two Fridays before Mardi Gras and feature numerous impressive floats, colorful beads, tasty Moon Pies, and more.
